B. ‘Madeira’ seems to have been first coined, but not established, for an apricot-flowered B. versicolor collected by Herta Blin’s daughter from the Island of Madeira, and introduced by Mme Blin c. 1994. The name, however, was established in the Klara Baum catalogue of 1996/7 where it was applied to plants of B. ‘Glockenfontäne’ of which it is therefore a superfluous synonym.
