This one came from Brenda Delph in the end of 2007.
I was immediately intrigued by this the first time I had
it bloom. It has a very tidy growth, being somewhat
compact, easily forking with a smaller canopy at about 4
feet and 3-4 feet wide, if left untrimmed. The foliage
holds well and doesn't seem to be easily affected by
insects. It seems to root impressively well for an Aurea.
The texture of the foliage is typical Aurea, being nice and
strong, with a fuzzy texture and compact, somewhat round
leaves. Deep forest green color that stands out against the
flowers. The flower is structurally sturdy and thick walled. The
size is compact and small, being near horizontal to horizontal
when open. They are pollen rich, not easily shedding it, which
makes it easier for collecting. The quality of the color is a
tangerine at the edge, abruptly lightening to a pale yellow
toward the top of the corolla. The aperture of the flower is
fairly narrow, the corolla lip is not fully reflexed and edges
relaxed and corrugated. One of the most notable features of the flower is the small
size (7" long x 4" at widest point of corolla edge),
outreaching corolla tips and comparably long corolla
tips appear to create a starfish shape when viewed directly
into the face of the flower.Fragrance quality is excellent, medium strong being of a
slightly sweet combination of lemon verbena combined with a soft lavender
and jasmine scent.

Thick, deep green foliage.

wait for me i want to see that 1 too
i like it verry much
Mario, the best thing is the fragrance on a mild night. It smells just right.
Not too strong, and not powdery. I'm thinking 40% Lemon Verbena, 30%
Lavender, 30% Honeysuckle Perfume. You can thank Ludger. I really like this fragrance much better than it's
sibling "Seminole Moon". That flower is much bigger and darker orange than
Shooting Star, but the fragrance is just too much to handle, and is not so nice.

The fragrance is one of the best things about Shooting Star. Great description!
That ……… and that it is so free flowering!
I have some nice seedlings that Brenda produced using SS as a pollen parent.

Strong grower and bloomer. Easy to set pods on. Throws color to offspring. Does well most of the year but really puts on a show here in FL around Halloween!
