About Me
Hello from the southern Oregon coast! I live in the Harbor portion of Brookings-Harbor, Oregon, which is a wonderful zone 9!
Besides growing flowers, I love camping and sailing. I have a really, really cool husband of almost 18 years, and we love having fun. We like to sail our small sailboat in the river here, and we have a little Casita camp trailer that we use as often as possible. The Oregon coast is the perfect place for all the things we love to do.
Brookings-Harbor is known as the "Home of Winter Flowers". And this just happens to be an almost ideal location for the cold weather Brug group. I began growing Brugmansia here in 2005 when an acquaintance here gave me a Noid pink, and that's when I joined BGI. Several generous members sent me other warm group cuttings, and I think I had maybe three blooms in my first two years. Then I saw a picture of a Sanguinea in 2007 and had to try them from seed. They roared to blooms within their first year, and then began the fun! This is the first year I have grown my own crosses from seed, and what fun it's been! I'm still trying to decide what's more fun, though – when you know you have a successful cross, or when you tell your coworkers you had the most wonderful flower sex over the weekend! Haha
Everyone at BGI has been wonderful, and the first thing I do every morning is grab my coffee and head for the boards! Love the humor, support and all around good people at BGI, and I am so glad to be a member here. Go BGI!
